McN-J bookseller Emma Allen staff picks Why We Broke Up:
Have you ever been unceremoniously dumped? Yeah… me neither. Anyway, Handler (the man who you might know by his more maudlin moniker Lemony Snicket) can hold your hand through the painful details of a high-school heartbreak, in this new teen novel: a 350-plus-page letter  penned by the film buff Min Green to her basketballer ex, Ed Slaterton. Maira Kalman’s fabulous paintings of matchboxes, jars of chestnuts, egg cubers, umbrellas, etc., accompany the epistle, illustrating all of the items Ms. Green is depositing on Ed’s doorstop. You’ll mope, you’ll cheer, and then you’ll dig out all of those boxes filled with flannel shirts and love letters under your bed.
